Jean Paul is a character that appears in the Rainbow Six novel. He was a terrorist involved in a plot to get Carlos The Jackal released from prison by taking children hostage at World Park in Spain.

Biography

Jean-Paul was born in 1956 in France. He never married and had rarely even enjoyed a proper love affair. This created a hole in his life and his character and he tried to fill it with his political ideology by joining the Action Directe terrorist group. Following the dissolution of Action Directe by the French police in 1987, Jean-Paul was among several members that went into hiding.

Rainbow Six

In 1999, another former member of Action Directe, Andre Herr, sought to force the French Government release Carlos The Jackal and other Action Directe members from prison by taking employees of Thompson CSF and their families hostage at World Park. Jean-Paul was enlisted to help in the mission alongside eight other former Action Directe members. After checking into one of the park's surrounding hotels, Jean-Paul was put on standby for the next two weeks as Herr and Esteban gathered information about the park by applying for jobs as a park security guard and a balloon seller.

On April 2nd, Juan and his associates disguised themselves as tourists and launched their attack. After taking hostages, the terrorists corralled them into the park's replicate medieval castle to make their demands.
