{{Character}} is the infobox used on this wiki for character pages. It has a long history, and the current form replaces both an earlier version of itself and another template called sidebar/character. For this reason — and the fact that it can be used in a number of instances — it has a lot of variables. There will never be a case where all of the variables are necessary — or even possible for an individual character.

To use this template, just copy the blank version of the template on the left and fill out those variables which you need. Since the infobox includes only those variables which are actually filled out, there's no harm to leaving a number of "empty" variables on the page.

The infobox will never be anything like as long as you see here on the right.

Duplicated variables

To easily ensure this template still works on some older pages, a few variables surrounding dates of birth and death have duplicate names, as documented in the code of the template itself.
