Casimir Podolski

Rear Admiral Casimer "Cas" Podolski is a character that appears in the novel, Without Remorse.

Biography

Podolski was the son of a former Polish ambassador to Washington. In 1941 after graduating from Princeton University, he commissioned into the U.S. Navy as an aviator. During World War II, Podolski was stationed aboard the USS Essex where he met Dutch Maxwell. He later married and had a son named Stanislas who also joined the military and became a pilot like his father. Unfortuately, Stanislas was was shot down and killed during the Vietnam War, devestating Podolski.

In 1970, Pedolski worked as an aide to Vice Admiral Dutch Maxwell. He was involved in the planning and execution of Operation Boxwood Green. The operation's purpose was to rescue Colonel Robin Zacharias and other POWs who had been captured at a secret POW camp in Vietnam.

  • He was noted to have arthritic hands and was possibly forced into retirement at his next physical.
