Colonel Aleksandr Kurochnik of the 56th Airborne Spetsnaz has a reputation as an aggressive commander who always prefers to be on the offense. He served in a Russian airborne regiment during the Chechen Wars and was one of the first soldiers to storm Grozny in 1994. In the Second Chechen War he was a member of Spetsnaz GRU. His experiences during the Chechen Wars led him to value small offensive movements with close air support.
