Near the end of the war, Calvino served in the 4th Mobile Artillery Brigade, which supported major Eurofed operations in the southern theatre of operations. When her commanding officer was killed in a Russian helicopter attack, Calvino took command of her company and led it with distinction until the end of hostilities. Her unit, armed with powerful AMZ-50 Marksman mobile artillery pieces, gained a reputation for precision strikes against fortified targets.
