Flying with the 13th Fighter Squadron based at Misawa, Japan, Captain Young was one of the first US fighter aces of World War III, destroying eight Russian strategic bombers targeting US Navy bases at Bremerton. Operating in support of the 21st Mechanized Battalion, Young earned twelve more kills over Siberia before war's end, making him one of the highest-scoring US pilots. Now based near Norfolk, Virginia, Young's flight is equipped with the advanced A-21 Thunderbolt air superiority fighter, armed with copperhead multirole attack missiles.
