Colonel Georgi Sokolov of the 48th Tactical Spetsnaz is a Russian chess grandmaster. His career began at the Russian Ministry of Defense but he made an unprecedented change of career by enlisting in the Russian Army. He flourished as a soldier and after proving himself to be an excellent leader during the second Chechen War. The Spetsnaz brought him onboard in 2000. Sokolov has a seemingly innate understanding of military maneuvers and is able to adapt to diverse situations with ease.
