This Pioneer is wielding a M268.
The M268 SAW is a man-portable microgun used by Joint Strike Force Pioneers. It fires the same 6.8mm round as the SCAR A1. Its high rate of fire and portability makes for a devastating weapon.
Overview
The weapon is described as self-contained, which probably means it is gas-operated as opposed to electric motor-powered. Such designs are currently strictly Russian, represented by various members of the GSh family, from GSh-5,45 (AK-74 caliber) to GSh-30-6 (30mm liquid cooled CIWS gun, used in twin mounts).
The weapon is is attached to the Pioneers' exoskeleton via a mechanical harness, which would help them manage both the weight and the recoil of the weapon.
