After Effect is the fourth Crisis Event available for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction. The event introduces a limited-timed gamemode, a new Protean, a new gadget, cosmetics, and exclusive Studies.
Announced on October 25th, 2022, it was released on October 27th, 2022 and concluded on November 17th, 2022.[1][2] The objective of the mode is to transport the Nucleus to the third subzone and contain it as waves of enemies attempt to stop players.
Overview
The Crisis Event can take place across any region and features 3 gameplay objectives. The first objective is a normal gameplay objective, the following two are Nucleus and Containment. The parasite ecosystem is in distress, and is producing Amber Sprawl as an autoimmune response. Amber Sprawl causes chemical burns when stepped on, making the REACT Laser a very important tool. In the second subzone, operators will find a Nucleus, a premature singularity. Players carrying the Nucleus cannot melee, use any weapons, abilities, or React Gear other than the Repulsion Harness. Nucleus carriers also walk at decreased speed, and cannot sprint. Carrying the Nucleus gives the player the Death Marker ability. If an Archaean is hit by the ability, the next damage will kill them. The Death Marker has a brief cooldown, but it is reusable instantly if the marked enemy is killed. However, carrying the Nucleus will also cause the player's eyesight to be impaired gradually. If impairment reaches 50 or 100%, it will not decrease under that for the remainder of the incursion. Archaeans are also more aggressive towards the Nucleus carrier.Template:Citation needed
Nucleus
The objective of Nucleus is to locate the Nucleus. Once it has been located, players should prepare a path to the airlock. The airlock cannot be triggered without the Nucleus. After an operator takes the Nucleus, all Archaeans in the subzone will be alerted. After the Nucleus is carried into the airlock, players may transition to the 3rd subzone.
Containment
After reaching the 3rd subzone, the Sprawl Overflow mutation comes into effect. The Nucleus Container has been rendered inoperable by Arch Spines, which must be cleared. The Arch Spines are harder than the ones seen in the Sabotage objective, and must be struck by the Death Marker before they are able to be destroyed. After all Arch Spines are destroyed, players must escort the Nucleus carrier to the Extraction Zone, where the Nucleus may be placed into a specialised container. This completes the Containment objective.
