Star on the Wall is the eighth and final episode of Season 3 of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. It premiered on December 21, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video.

Synopsis

Ryan, Luka, Greer, November, Wright, and President Kovac all work in concert to prevent World War III.

Plot

While Ryan hikes to the Russia-Estonia border to rendezvous with a team that will transport him to the USS Theodore Roosevelt, Luka arrives in Kronstadt to board the Fearless, a Russian destroyer under the command of Rolan Antonov, a seasoned officer who's part of the rogue Russian group loyal to Petrov and was at Matoksa with Luka and Petr. Under orders from Petrov, Antonov intends to sail the Fearless into the Baltic Sea and confront the Roosevelt.

Meanwhile, Greer and November assist President Kovac in covertly entering the Kremlin through a secret tunnel network so that she can have an off-the-record meeting with President Surikov. She plays the recording of Petrov denigrating Popov and admitting to his assassination, Surikov thanks her and sends security to arrest Petrov while he confronts his cabinet in the Kremlin War Room. Petrov's assistant informs him Surikov wants to speak with him while he's interrogating Greer, but when Petrov sees that security agents have come to collect him, he seizes his advisors weapon and attempts to open fire on the agents but is killed before he can get off a shot. Surikov confronts his cabinet and acknowledges that not all of them are traitors, retaking control of the country from the fail coup d'etat.

In the Baltic the Fearless has entered combat range with the Roosevelt. Luka, who was sent to the brig by Antonov after boarding the ship, appeals to the executive officer Kagansky that Antonov is not acting on orders from the Kremlin and must be stopped. Kagansky releases Luka and takes him to the bridge, where Antonov defiantly launches a missile at the Roosevelt. The Roosevelt intercepts but Antonov intends to launch another salvo before they can reload their countermeasures. Luka successfully convinces the crew that Antonov is rogue, placing him under arrest by ship's security. Luke then contacts Ryan over the ship communications and, with Ryan, manages to de-escalate the situation before the Fearless breaks off and returns to port in Kronstadt.

Wright is promoted to CIA Director by the President, after which she awards Greer and Ryan the intelligence star for their service. Meanwhile in Russia Luka is quietly retrieved from his home and his fate remains unclear.
