Choi Sang-u is a character mentioned in the novel, Point of Contact. He briefly served as the Supreme Leader of North Korea.

Biography

Choi Sang-u is the uncle Choi Ji-hoon. Following the death of Ji-hoon's father who had been the Supreme leader of North Korea at the time, Ji-hoon had Sang-u imprisoned at a labor camp so that he could become the new supreme leader. In 2010, Hwang Min-ho, the Director of Korea Natural Resources Trading Corporation, lead a coup backed by the Chinese in North Korea. Sang-u's son, Choi Ji-hoon went on to lead an army unit to kill Ji-hoon and his bodyguard. Sang-u was then installed as the new Supreme leader of North Korea. Unfortunately, years of hard labor had taken a toll on Sang-u's health which resulted in his death a few weeks later. Ha-guk then succeeded his father as Supreme leader of North Korea.
