Aref Raman is a character that appears in the novel, Executive Orders.
Biography
In 1996, Aref Raman was installed in the Secret Service as a sleeper agent. He was later tasked by Ayatollah Mahmoud Haji Daryaei of the newly formed United Islamic Republic to assassinate President Jack Ryan. This was part of a series of terrorist attacks on the United States orchestrated by Daryaei in an attempt to prevent the country from interfering with the UIR's invasion of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Despite this, Raman's assassination attempt ultimately failed and he was arrested.
