Scott Adler is a character that appears in several Tom Clancy novels. He has served as the U.S. Secretary of State during President Jack Ryan's first and second terms in office.

Biography

The Sum of All Fears

In 1991, He was the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State under President Robert Fowler and President Roger Durling following the latter's resignation.

Debt of Honor

In 1995, Adler handled the negotiations with the Japanese over trying to recover the Mariana Islands by diplomatic means. Following the death of Secretary of State Brett Hanson and the majority of the leadership of the U.S. Government, Adler became the acting Secretary of State.

Executive Orders

Scott Adler continued to serve as the acting Secretary of State in 1996.

The Bear and the Dragon
