William "Bill" Shaw is a character that appears in several Tom Clancy novels.
Biography
The Sum of All Fears
In 1988, Shaw was the Executive Assistant Director of Operations in the FBI until Director Emil Jacobs was assassinated. Shaw subsequently succeeded Jacobs as the acting Director of the FBI.
Debt of Honor
Shaw later died in 1996 as a result of a plane crashing into the Capitol building.
