Carol Zimmer
Carol Zimmer is a character that appears in several Ryanverse novels.
Biography
Clear and Present Danger
In 1988, Carol's husband SMSgt Buck Zimmer's was killed on a rescue mission in Colombia. The leader of the mission, Deputy Director of Intelligence Jack Ryan vowed to financially support Carol and her seven children as a result.
The Sum of All Fears
In 1991, Ryan helped her and her family through an educational trust fund as well as setting up a 7-Eleven convenience store to supplement her family income. Unfortunately, National Security Advisor Elizabeth Elliot misinterpreted Ryan's help as an indication that Carol was his mistress. She then leaked her assumptions to a reporter named Bob Holtzman in order to start a smear campaign against Ryan.
