In 1996, Plumber worked as a television commentator for NBC with anchor Tom Donner. Critical of President Jack Ryan he later assists Donner in ambushing Ryan in a televised interview and sabotaging it. Plumber later publicity admitted to sabotaging the interview in the name of journalistic integrity.
