Sergey Sorokin
Sergey Sorokin is a character that appears in the film, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. He is the current Interior Minister of the Russian Government.
Biography
In 2013, the Russian Federation loses a key vote before the United Nations and the markets do not respond in the expected manner. With Russia seeing this as the start of an economic war, Sorokin arranges for a meeting with Russian businessman Viktor Cherevin and charges him with collapsing the U.S. economy. Cherevin had secretly propped up the Chinese and Japanese economies for years, leaving the entire global economy vulnerable. Cherevin planned to exploit this vulnerability by selling the billions of dollars of stock he had invested over the years following a terrorist attack to destroy Wall Street in New York by his son, Aleksandr Borovsky. Cherevin's plan ultimately fails following the actions of CIA agent Jack Ryan. Sorokin later requests for Cherevin to meet with him again. As Sorokin's motorcade pulls up, Sorokin has his bodyguard execute Cherevin for his failure before speeding off.
