Jared Mason
Jared Mason is a character that appears in the film, The Sum of All Fears.
Biography
Jared Mason is a former member of the U.S. Navy. It is implied that he was kicked out of the Navy after only eight months due to his Neo-Nazi and fascist beliefs. He later became a dockworker in Baltimore, Maryland. In September 2002, Mason was contacted by Richard Dressler who told him of his plan to revitalize fascism throughout the world by making the United States and Russia rage a war against one another with a nuclear weapon. A firm believer in Dressler's plan, Mason agreed to help him carry out it out and was paid by Dressler in return.
On November 19th, 2002, Dressler contacted Mason through email to tell him that the nuclear weapon had arrived at the port from the Canary Islands. Mason signed for the crate and loaded it onto his truck. With the bomb disguised as a vending machine, Mason delivered it to M&T Bank Stadium where President J. Robert Fowler would visit later that day. He then returned to the docks and waited for the bomb to detonate, killing thousands. Unfortunately for Mason, he was hung to death by Haft on Dressler's orders so as to cut loose ends. Mason's body was later found by Jack Ryan who had tracked his name through shipping manifests for the bomb. Shortly after finding Mason's body, Ryan was also attacked by Haft and a struggle ensued until police arrived.
