Julie Fowler is a character that appears in the film, The Sum of All Fears as well as the novel of the same name. She was the First Lady of the United States and wife of President J. Robert Fowler.

Biography

Film

In 2002, Julie calls her husband while he is conducting a war game scenario at a nuclear bunker. Asking her husband about the upcoming White House Correspondents Dinner, she leads him to end the scenario early to prepare for it. She is later seen at the dinner sitting near her husband who was telling jokes to the crowd.

Novel

In 1991, she died due to complications from multiple sclerosis. Her death later caused her grieving husband to engage with a sexual relationship with his National Security Advisor, Elizabeth Elliot. This proved to be his downfall as Elliot continued to manipulate Fowler into making bad decisions when confronted with the threat of nuclear war instigated by Iran's leader Mahmoud Haji Daryaei
