Chester is a character that appears in the Rainbow Six novel. He was among the many people that were abducted and used as test subjects for the Shiva virus.

Biography

In 1999, Chester was homeless and was a heavy alcoholic. His alcoholism was leading to liver failure and had given his skin a yellowish cast. Despite only having less than a year left to live as a result, Chester continued to spend any money he could find on alcohol. One night, he and several other homeless men were abducted by the Horizon Corporation and taken to a secret lab. Chester was told that he would be undergoing a medical study and was administered drugs to prevent questioning. In reality, he was being experimented on with the newly developed Shiva virus.

After being exposed to the virus, Chester rarely talked to anyone and spent his time watching television and reading comics. A few days later, his reduced liver function accelerated the effects of the virus. Chester informed the project lead, John Killgore, of his symptoms which prompted Killgore to draw a blood sample to confirm that he had Shiva antibodies. Killgore then had Chester taken to the clinical side of the facility and administered him morphine to calm him down.

Unfortunately, Chester's liver failure accelerated and led to trouble breathing. Killgore and Barbara Archer attempted to see if any treatment would be effective but Chester's serious underlying medical conditions on top of the Shiva virus made his death unavoidable. With no other treatment options available, Archer injected Chester with a lethal dose of potassium, killing him moments later. Afterwards, Chester's corpse was disposed of by Horizon personnel.

Chester's premature death led Killgore and Archer to realize that they needed healthy test subjects for their experiments, tasking Kirk Maclean to start abducting men and women from across New York City.
