Corporal Mole is a character that appears in the novel, Rainbow Six.

Biography

A member of the Royal Military Police, Mole worked as a driver for Rainbow Director John Clark in 1999. Despite this, he was not an official member of Rainbow, which he resented somewhat. A few months into Mole's tenure as Clark's driver, PIRA launched an attack on the community hospital outside of Hereford Base. Clark's wife and daughter, Sandra O'Toole and Patricia Clark, were specifically taken captive in order to lure Rainbow to the hospital. Once Rainbow learned of the situation, Mole drove Clark and Domingo Chavez to the hospital to spectate while Alistair Stanley was given command of the rescue operation. Shortly thereafter, another team of PIRA members outside of the hospital fired upon Rainbow Team-1 from behind, killing two Rainbow operatives and injuring Stanley, Mike Chin, and Mortimer Houston. The PIRA team then attempted to escape using a truck, prompting Clark and Chavez to return to their vehicle and order Mole to purse them.

During the chase, Clark told Mole to get them close to the truck's right side so that they could shoot out the vehicle's front-right tire. Mole first maneuvered to the truck's left then slowed and darted to its right. This surprised the truck driver, Paul Murphy and allowed Clark enough time to signal for Mole to swerve their vehicle to the left. Murphy swerved to the left to avoid Mole which granted and opening for Clark and Chavez to extend their pistols out the car windows and take out Murphy's tires. Murphy attempted to gain control of the vehicle but the truck's wheel rim dug into the pavement and caused it to roll over. Mole stopped the car as Chavez radioed for Daniel Malloy to pursue the other fleeing vehicle driven by Sean Grady with his Night Hawk helicopter. Mole, Clark, and Chavez then exited the vehicle to check for survivors. Aside from one person who was seriously wounded, Murphy and all other PIRA members in the truck had died from the crash. Mole and Chavez then pulled the surviving terrorist from the vehicle onto the road. Clark contacted Malloy and had him return to their location to pick up the wounded PIRA member and take him to the hospital on base. Upon touching down, Mole and Chavez loaded the terrorist aboard the helicopter beside Grady who had also been seriously injured and captured.

Afterwards, Mole drove Clark and Chavez back to the hospital to deal with the four remaining PIRA members who later surrendered. Mole then took Clark and Chavez to the hospital to interrogate Grady and later drove them to the base jail to interrogate another PIRA terrorist named Timothy O'Neal. Mole was visibly pleased from his actions of the day which later earned him a ribbon and a nice letter from Clark.
