"We owe it to ourselves, we owe it to our children—we owe it to the planet. This bill has to be killed! I don’t care what it takes, this bill must die! You must convince the President to withdraw any semblance of support for it. We cannot allow this environmental rape to take place."
— Kevin Mayflower to Carol Brightling

Kevin Mayflower is a character that appears in the Rainbow Six novel. He was the president of the Sierra Club.

Biography

In 1999, Kevin Mayflower was the president of the Sierra Club environmental organization. By this time, he had complete control of the Sierra Club's board and was noted to have driven the organization to an extremist ideology.

Mayflower was also an acquaintance of the then Science Advisor to the President, Carol Brightling. During one meeting with Brightling in Washington D.C., Mayflower urged her to advise President Jack Ryan to veto a bill to expand the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. Brightling told Mayflower that while the President would probably not listen to her, she would try to convince him nonetheless. Unfortunately, Brightling's assumptions proved correct when she was ordered by the White House Chief of Staff Arnold van Damm to endorse to bill or be fired.

A short time later, Mayflower had another meeting with Brightling at a restaurant. The pair continued to speak about environmental issues plaguing the world before Mayflower concluded that the only way to restore the Earth would be to start over. This prompted Brightling to recruit him into "the Project" to make his wish a reality by releasing the Shiva virus.

Mayflower and several of his associates were flown to the Horizon Corporation's secret compound in Kansas known as "Olympus" to wait out the virus as part of the "chosen few". Despite this, Rainbow successfully prevented the release of the virus. With Olympus compromised, Mayflower and the other "chosen few" were transported to Horizon's other secret compound in Brazil. This compound was also raided by Rainbow a short time later. It is unknown if Mayflower was killed during the raid or had died after several weeks of being left stranded in the Amazon rainforest.
