In 1999, Carlos The Jackal had his lawyer notify Esteban and other former members of Action Directe of his desire to be released from prison. Led by René, Esteban and his associates traveled to World Park to enact a plan that would result in Carlo's freedom. René ordered Andre and Esteban to apply for jobs at the park to scout it for information. The pair was hired and subsequently attended "World Park University" for training.

Esteban was hired as a balloon seller while Herr became a park security guard. This enabled them to understand how the park operated and what weak points they could exploit for their mission. After two weeks of observing the park, René decided that they were ready to execute their plan.

On April 2nd, Esteban and his associates launched their attack and took employees of Thompson CSF and their families hostage. With René leading the attack, the hostages were corralled into the park's replica medieval castle. It was their hope that Thompson CSFs importance to the French Government would force them to release Carlos and several other comrades from prison. To show their resolve, René ordered Andre to execute a terminally ill girl named Anna Groot.

A short time later, Esteban made note of Daniel Malloy's Nigh Hawk circling the park, prompting René to post José on the roof of the castle. Esteban then volunteered to keep an eye on police who were slowly approaching the castle. Not long after, Rainbow initiated their breach of the castle. In the ensuing firefight, Esteban and the other eight terrorists inside the castle were killed.
