In 1999, Carlos The Jackal had his lawyer notify Juan and other former members of Action Directe of his desire to be released from prison. Led by René, Juan and his associates traveled to World Park to enact a plan that would result in Carlos' freedom. After checking into one of the park's surrounding hotels, Juan was put on standby for the next two weeks as Andre and Esteban gathered information about the park by applying for jobs as a park security guard and a balloon seller.

Two weeks later on April 2nd, Juan and his associates disguised themselves as tourists and launched their attack. Taking the children of Thompson CSF employees hostage, Juan and the other terrorists corralled them into the park's replica medieval castle which also housed its control room. It was their hope that Thompson CSFs importance to the French Government would force them to release Carlos and several other comrades from prison. To show their resolve, René ordered Andre to execute a terminally ill girl named Anna Groot.

A few hours later, Rainbow initiated their rescue operation. In the ensuing firefight, Juan and the other eight terrorists inside the castle were killed.
