Maggie
Maggie is a character that appears in the Rainbow Six novel. She is a researcher for the Horizon Corporation and the creator of the Shiva virus.
Biography
In 1999, Maggie was a researcher working for the Horizon Corporation. She was tasked by John Brightling to create a more viable bio-weapon from a sample of the weaponized strain of the Ebola virus that Iran's former leader, Ayatollah Daryaei, had unleashed on the United States in 1996. This was in order to fulfill Brightling's dream of stopping pollution forever by wiping out the majority of humanity.
Maggie was able to successfully genetically modify the virus by grafting colon cancer genes into the organism which allowed it to survive for long periods of time while exposed to air. Maggie also programmed the virus to consume exposed tissue and to multiply itself once complete. She named the virus "Shiva" based on the Hindu God Shiva who was known as the Destroyer and the Restorer. After its completion, Maggie gave a sample of the virus to another Horizon researcher named Steve Berg who started development of a vaccine which would be used by Brightling's "chosen few".
