Tomas Nuncio
Colonel Tomas Nuncio is a character that appears in Rainbow Six. A member of the Spanish Civil Guard, he was directed to provide Rainbow assistance during the hostage situation at World Park.
Biography
On April 2nd, 1999, former members of Action Directe took the children of Thompson CSF employees hostage at World Park in Spain. Colonel Nuncio was ordered to provide all the assistance his people could provide to local law enforcement and Rainbow. After arriving onsite, Colonel Nuncio's men established an inner perimeter, traffic control, and stopped all press at the park's main gate. His men had been so successful in securing the scene that even Colonel Nuncio's superior's had little idea of what was going on. Colonel Nuncio later took a helicopter from Madrid to meet Rainbow at the international airport to brief John Clark of the situation.
Following the successful conclusion of the hostage incident, Colonel Nuncio was assumed by the media to be the officer in command of the rescue operation. As a result, he was bombarded with requests for details of the operation along with videotapes. To satisfy these requests, Colonel Nuncio released World Park's own video coverage as he had deemed it to be the least offensive footage possible. The footage itself showed only minor details of the operation such as Rainbow's initial breach of the park's castle and their exit from the facility after rescuing the hostages. The distance of the cameras also prevented the recognition of the rescue team members.
Unfortunately, terrorist mastermind Dimitriy Popov recognized Rainbow Operator Eddie Price from the footage. This led to his discovery of Rainbow as a new international counter-terrorism organization.
