Henry is a character that appears in the Rainbow Six novel. He was among the many people that were abducted and used as test subjects for the Shiva virus.

Biography

A veteran of the U.S. military, Henry was the owner of a liquor store and a known alcoholic. One night in 1999, he and several other homeless men were abducted by the Horizon Corporation and taken to a secret lab. Each of them was told that they would be undergoing a medical study and were administered drugs to prevent questioning. In reality, they were the first human test subjects to be experimented on with the newly developed Shiva virus.

Unlike the other test subjects, Henry proved to be a fighter. He was the last survivor of the first group of human test subjects. His resistance to the Shiva virus impressed the head doctor of the project, Dr. John Killgore. Killgore felt it was a shame that they could not study his genetics further to find the cause of his resistance but did not think they should try to save him. Henry's body ultimately started to succumb to the virus. Killgore ran a blood test and found that his liver had finally failing and his blood chemistry was off the charts in every category. During a checkup, Henry told Killgore that he was experiencing pain in his stomach. Killgore was surprised by this remark as Henry was already being administered nearly twelve milligrams of morphine a day, a lethal dose for a healthy person. Killgore felt that Henry had suffered enough and administered an additional forty milligrams of dilaudid to ease his pain. Immediately afterward, Henry passed out and died from the dosage. Killgore removed Henry's IV and checked his carotid artery and chest to verify his death. Killgore then left the room and waved an orderly to remove Henry's body. Killgore later informed Ben Farmer of Henry's death. Farmer stated that Henry had been a "tough bastard" to survive this long though it was a shame they didn't lay his body out to feed the buzzards.
