"Where is Momma?"
— Anna Groot

Anna Groot is a character that appears in the Rainbow Six novel. She was one of the many children that were taken hostage by Andre Herr at World Park.

Biography

Anna was diagnosed with bone cancer at a young age and by 1999, she was only given six weeks left to live. Terminally ill and bound to a wheelchair, a charitable foundation flew Anna and her family to World Park for Easter Weekend. On April 2nd, Andre Herr and other former members of Action Directe attacked the park. Anna and another terminally ill boy were taken hostage along with thirty-three children of Thompson-CSF employees. Taking them to the park's castle, the terrorists demanded that the French Government release Carlos The Jackal from prison.

Following Rainbow's arrival at the park, John Clark had the park engineer cut the power to the castle. A few seconds later, a terrorist named René contacted the park's control room and spoke with Rainbow's negotiator, Paul Bellow. Ignoring Bellows attempt to profile him, René demanded that the power be turned on immediately or else he would kill a child. After cutting the line, René asked Andre to select a child to execute. Unfortunately, Andre choose Anna as his victim. A few minutes later, Bellow failed to restore the power which prompted Andre to wheel Anna to the castle entrance. With the world watching, Herr fired his weapon into Anna's back through her heart, killing her instantly. He then pushed the wheelchair down a curved path where it rolled into the courtyard and stopped.

Her death deeply affected Homer Johnson who went against protocol and purposely fired at Andre's internal organs during the hostage rescue, causing him immense pain before his death.
